About The WT: Aug 23-27
The Wonderland Trail is a 95mi trail that goes around Mt Rainier in Washington with about 25,600ft of each ascent and descent. There is quite a lot of elevation change and campsites are by permit only and preassigned. Days were determined by the campsites we are able to obtain, so there was quite an uneven range in daily mileage (3.8, 24.7, 15.6, 3.2, 21.4, 19.7). This is an extremely popular hike most book through a lottery system months in advance. The 2016 season was unique because the online permit system went down over the winter and it was all first come, first serve. Our hike was counterclockwise starting at Mowich Lake Trailhead.
